Critical Scattering and Two Photon Spectra for a Quark/Meson Plasma

چکیده

At the Mott transition of a quark/meson plasma, mesons become unbound. This leads to the effect of critical scattering, which is studied by investigating photon pair production due to the process qq̄ → γγ. This process can proceed either via direct annihilation or via the formation of a mesonic resonance. It is shown that the latter channel leads to an enhancement of photon pairs with invariant mass equal to the thermal pion mass. The size of this effect measures the time the temperature stays near the Mott temperature during the evolution. It is particularly pronounced for a first order phase transition. The π → γγ decay gives a strong background contribution and may make the observation of critical scattering in two-photon spectra of present day heavy ion collision experiments difficult. Heavy-Quark Spectra at RHIC and Resonances in the QGP

Thermalization and collective flow of charm (c) and bottom (b) quarks are evaluated from elastic parton scattering via “D”and “B”-meson resonances in an expanding, strongly interacting quark-gluon plasma at RHIC. Pertinent drag and diffusion coefficients are implemented into a relativistic Langevin simulation to compute transverse-momentum spectra and azimuthal flow asymmetries (v2) of cand b-q...

Nonperturbative heavy-quark diffusion in the quark-gluon plasma.

We evaluate heavy-quark (HQ) transport properties in a quark-gluon plasma (QGP) within a Brueckner many-body scheme employing interaction potentials extracted from thermal lattice QCD. The in-medium T matrices for elastic charm- and bottom-quark scattering off light quarks in the QGP are dominated by attractive meson and diquark channels which support resonance states up to temperatures of ~1.5...

Quark coalescence based on a transport equation

Hadron spectra measured at intermediate transverse momenta, pT=2-6GeV, in 200AGeV Au-Au collisions at the Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider (RHIC) have revealed a surprisingly large baryon-tomeson ratio ~1 and a so-called constituent quark-number scaling (CQNS) of the elliptic flow, v2(pT). Both phenomena are rather naturally explained within quark coalescence models (QCMs), where constituent qua...

طیف مزونها و وابستگی به پتانسیلهای فوق ریز

In most models, mesons consist of quark -antiquark pairs moving in a confining potential. However, it would be interesting to consider the effect of an extra residual interaction by introducing the quark particles which contain a dependent spin and isospin. In the Chiral constituent quark model, the hyperfine part of the potential is provided by the interaction of the Goldstone bosons, which ...
